2020 Summer Review Institute Applications
The Instructional Material Bureau is now accepting applications for the 2020 Summer Review Institute. Instructional materials for grades 9-12 English Language Arts, Spanish Language Arts, English Language Development, and World Languages will be reviewed June 1-19, 2020. We are looking for reviewers, content leaders, and facilitators who are committed to helping the Instructional Material Bureau and NMPED identify high-quality instructional materials for the students and teachers of New Mexico. A description of each position and the application link are below.
The reviewer’s primary responsibility is to review materials and provide evidence for alignment with standards and high quality indicators using rubrics developed by a team of content experts and the IMB. Reviewers are also required to work with a Content Leader to ensure understanding of the standards and authentic results; meet scheduled deadlines for completing the review; attend daily check-ins on progress toward final scores; and collaborate with another Reviewer and a Content Leader to author an evidence-based appraisal of reviewed materials. The content leader’s primary responsibility is to review materials and provide evidence for alignment with standards and high quality indicators using rubrics developed by a team of content experts and the IMB. Content leaders are expected to be highly knowledgeable in their content area and be able to provide content and standards support throughout the review to their review team. They are required to work with a team of two other reviewers to ensure understanding of the standards and authentic results; meet scheduled deadlines for completing the review; schedule and facilitate daily check-ins on progress toward final scores; attend daily check-ins with their facilitator; ensure the review team provides evidence that is valid; and lead reviewers toward an evidence-based appraisal of reviewed materials. The facilitator’s primary responsibilities include guiding multiple review teams (one content leader and two reviewers per team) through the review process; monitoring review teams’ progress on review rubrics and appraisals; conducting daily check-ins with content leaders; assuring review teams meet scheduled deadlines for completing their review; validating final scores; approving appraisals for each review set of materials; and completing official review paperwork.
