Personal checks or cash will not be accepted.

All fees must be in the form of a cashier’s check or money order and be made out to “New Mexico Public Education Department”

Application Fees

  • Support Providers $35 cashier’s check or money order (Renewal for support provider $35)
    • Substitute Teachers, Educational Assistant, Athletic Coaches, Health Assist, and Native Language/Cultural Certificate
  • Initial and Additional Licensure Application $125 cashier’s check or money order
    • Teachers, Administrators, and Instructional Support Providers
  • Renewal Licensure Application $95 cashier’s check or money order
    • Teachers [same level], Administrators, and Instructional Support Providers
      • NOTE: If you are renewing a level 2 or 3 expired license (expired for more than a year), you will be required to pay a $125 fee, cashier’s check or money order
  • Adding Endorsement(s) to a Teaching License $95 cashier’s check or money order

We accept two applications for the price of one. We will accept the higher application fee.

Dossier/ OPAL Fees

Please note that these fee are paid at TeachNM

Teacher Licensure Advancement through Professional Development Dossier (PDD) or Online Portfolio for Alternative Licensure (OPAL)

  • Initial Submission – $320
  • 1 Strand Resubmission – $110
  • 2 Strand Resubmission – $220
  • 3 Strand Resubmission – $320

Criminal Background Check Fee through Cogent

  • Background check through Cogent – $44

All Fees submitted are non-refundable
