Application Peer Review

Applications for the competitive NMCSP Subgrant programs are evaluated using a rigorous peer review process to ensure subgrants are awarded only to eligible applicants demonstrating the capacity to create high-quality charter schools.

Peer review teams conduct a consensus review and are made up of one licensed NM teacher, one licensed NM business official, one licensed NM administrator, and one former or current charter school authorizer or authorizing staff, or high level education policy expert.  Peer review team members are selected through a rigorous evaluation process and must meet minimum calibration requirements before completing application reviews.

Visit the PED RFPs, RFIs, and RFAs  website for information about the selection process or email your resume and a 1-2 page statement of interest to charter.schools@state.nm.us. The statement of interest should answer the following questions:

  • What are the hallmarks of a high-quality charter school?
  • Currently, how effective is New Mexico’s charter sector?
  • How would you improve New Mexico’s charter sector?
  • Why do you want to participate in the peer review process for the NMCSP?

Please do not exceed five-page maximum for resumes.

For the next NMCSP Subgrant Competitions, the submission deadline to be considered as a peer reviewer for New Charter School Applications is May 30, 2019 at 5 pm MT and for Expansion/Replication Applications is June 5, 2019 at 5 pm MT.
