The Math and Science Bureau of the PED is hosting the 2018 NM STEM Symposium on June 1, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM. Participating teachers will benefit from strategies to innovate their STEM lessons; highlighting the integration between the science and engineering practices, standards for math practice, and the ELA capacities. This is an ideal starting point for teachers making the transition to the NM STEM Ready! science standards. Teachers attending the entire STEM Symposium will receive six hours of professional development.

      Teacher Qualifications:

      • Must have a valid NM teaching license and teach in a NM public school.

Through the STEM Teacher Initiative, the PED will pay travel stipends for qualifying teachers from districts and charters farther than 60 miles roundtrip from Albuquerque. Travel stipends will be directly reimbursed to teachers at the conclusion of the symposium. Participants will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements.

The NM STEM Symposium is free to teachers, but space is limited, and teachers will be notified within two weeks if their registration has been accepted.
