Below are the recommended steps that ALL educators and administrators should take when exploring the MLSS and the variety of ways it is built to support holistic student success

Step 1

When beginning your journey through MLSS, start by reviewing the NEW MLSS Implementation Guide. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the various roles that district leadership, school leadership, and collaborative teacher teams (PLCs) have in making sure that holistic student success is realized  through:

  • High-Quality Curriculum and Common Interim Assessments
  • Daily Differentiated Small Group Instruction
  • Layer 1: Universal Student Supports and Progress Monitoring
  • Supports for English Learners (Els)
  • Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Instruction
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Behavioral Supports
  • Layer 2: Targeted Interventions and Progress Monitoring
  • Layer 2: Health and Wellness Teams
  • Layer 3: Intensive Interventions and Progress Monitoring
  • Layer 3: Non-punitive System of Behavioral Supports

Step 2

In response to growing demands for asynchronous learning opportunities for MLSS, the PED has developed a NEW suite of courses available through Canvas. These courses provide a unique opportunity for participants to receive certification of their understanding of MLSS while establishing avenues for educators to interact with other educators throughout the state.
