Licensure Updates
On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, The Professional Licensure Bureau will be closed to the public. While we will be closed, we will have staff available via email. Please contact Licensureunit@ped.nm.gov for assistance. Our office and all state offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and 24th, and will reopen on Monday, November 27, 2023. We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
The Professional Development Dossier (PDD) submission period begins July 15, 2023, at 12:01 a.m., and will remain open until 11:59 pm, March 29, 2024. The OPAL submission deadline is also until 11:59 p.m., March 29, 2024.
Submissions received by October 27, 2023, that successfully pass, will receive an effective date of July 1, 2023, on their license(s).
The resubmission window will open April 1, 2024, at 12:01 a.m., and will remain open until 11:59 p.m., May 15, 2024.
***SUBMISSIONS ONLY MEET THE SUBMISSION WINDOW DEADLINE IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL BY THE ABOVE DATES.*** Waiting until the final deadline is highly discouraged and will result in longer wait times for results.
The licensure extension application is available in our licensure portal. The application will be open from April 2024 and will remain open until 11:59 pm, June 30, 2024. You must work with your LEA for their support, as this application will require their narrative section to be completed, and the fee is non-refundable. Level I Educator Advancement Program: Micro-Credentials
All personnel required to hold NMPED licensure must have an appropriately cleared background submitted with the NMPED ORI # NM920140Z, before entering the virtual and/or in-person classroom. School employment backgrounds may not be submitted in lieu of the required licensure background. Apply, pay and track your digital application status online in the new licensure portal. Paper applications will be returned to the sender. To obtain a copy of your license please login to your portal account to download/save and print.
Disqualifying Conditions
The following criminal convictions under the New Mexico Criminal Code could constitute grounds for denial of an application for licensure issued by the Public Education Department.
