Licensure Updates

Apply, pay and track your digital application status online in the new licensure portal. Paper applications will be returned to the sender. We are currently processing applications with all requirements met within 15-20 business days. To obtain a copy of your license please login to your portal account to download/save and print.

All personnel required to hold NMPED licensure must have an appropriately cleared background on file with the Department submitted for code TEACHER LICENSURE ORI # NM920140Z before entering the virtual, hybrid and/or in-person classroom. School employment backgrounds may not be submitted in lieu of the required licensure background. Extensions and Content Exams:

Alternative/Dossier/1CS Sub-Standard Extensions: 

[NEW] All Level One Dossier, Level One Alternative and 1CS licensure extension requests are due on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 by 11:59 pm. Each request must be emailed to NMPED by the employing district, charter, or private school at: An email confirmation will be sent as proof of receipt.

If we need more support built out into an individualized plan, our team will reach out to the educator and the employer to identify areas of weakness and request the plan be updated for approval. Our team plans to approve all extensions with NMSA 22-10A-7 and NMAC supporting the requirement to meet full licensure by 2022. All requests for extension received by 6/30/2021 will receive a 7/1/2021 effective date once the individualized plan is approved.

Due to the volume of emails received we kindly ask you to monitor the licensure portal and your email for updates to the license(s).

Dossier Submissions: 

NMPED has received a very high volume of submissions and requests for updates. Please be assured all dossiers will be read and returned by the end of June. You will receive an email confirmation when your dossier meets or does not meet expectations. Educators needing to resubmit a strand(s) may do so at any time. The dossier portal will be open for new submissions again on July 15, 2021.
