Licensure Updates

WE NEED YOU!!  Initial and renewal Substitute and Educational Assistant licensure applications will be processed free of charge between 1/19/2022 and 3/31/2022. The $50 fee waiver is for the application processing only. Please visit our Licensure Background Information page for more details on this important requirement. Substitute and Educational Assistant licenses will be processed within 2 business days after the background is appropriately cleared.

All personnel required to hold NMPED licensure must have an appropriately cleared background submitted for the NMPED code TEACHER LICENSURE ORI # NM920140Z, before entering the virtual and/or in-person. School employment backgrounds may not be submitted in lieu of the required licensure background. Apply, pay and track your digital application status online in the new licensure portal. Paper applications will be returned to the sender. We are currently processing applications with all requirements met within 15 business days or better. To obtain a copy of your license please login to your portal account to download/save and print.

 

Disqualifying Conditions NEW

The following criminal convictions under the New Mexico Criminal Code shall constitute grounds for denial of an application for licensure issued by the Public Education Department.
