The New Mexico Teacher Leader Network (NMTLN) is a group of teacher leaders who are current members of the teacher leadership programs for the New Mexico Public Education Department. These individuals engage in professional learning opportunities with the NMPED staff to build their capacity as teacher leaders and advocacy skills as well as building a bridge of direct communication between the NMPED and educators across the state. The teacher leaders serve as conduits of information between the NMPED and their school communities and with their fellow educators. The leadership programs include the NMPED Teacher Leader Network and Advisory Committee and the School Liaison Program.
Mission
The New Mexico Teacher Leader Network is dedicated to building excellence through strength in diversity, education, and acceptance. Our mission focuses on empowering educators through collaboration, professional development, and advocacy that honor and reflect the rich cultural communities we serve. We strive to bridge the gap between teacher professional learning and classroom practices, creating an environment that elevates student success and promotes effective educational policies.
By prioritizing research-based strategies and systems, we aim to cultivate a collaborative network and a culturally responsive educational leadership team. Teacher leaders will serve as a conduit for bilateral communication, fostering an environment where all community stakeholders are actively involved. We are committed to empowering teachers to create authentic, diverse, and appropriate pathways for student success, ensuring that each learner has the support they need to thrive.
Vision
To create a unified New Mexico Teacher Leader Network (TLN) that drives positive change and bridges the gap between professional learning and effective teaching is essential for transforming our New Mexico school districts into a model of excellence and equity. Members of the TLN, along with the advisory committee, serve as a vital link between New Mexico educators, the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED), and policymakers. This collaboration ensures that the voices of NM teachers are heard and supported in effective practices while shaping policies that promote equitable student achievement. Ultimately, this cohesive effort aims to produce positive outcomes for all educators, establishing a sustainable resource of support for our schools.
