Responsibilities of the School Budget
- Review, analyze, and approve all school district and charter school operating budgets.
- Calculate and monitor the distribution and use of over $4.1 billion in State Equalization Guarantee (SEG) funding.
- Collect and analyze projected and actual student membership.
- Collect and analyze information related to Teacher Cost Index and licensed employees certified through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
- On a quarterly basis, review school district and charter school actual revenues, expenditures, and cash reports.
- Review Emergency Supplemental Awards and Out-of-State Tuition Awards.
- School district or charter school Board of Finance suspensions.
- Provides technical support and training for school district and charter school business personnel.
- Helps develop the public school support appropriation recommendation in relation to SEG.
