Students in New Mexico are engaged in a culturally and linguistically responsive educational system that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of ALL students.
GOALS
RECRUITMENT: To recruit more teachers statewide that represent the diversity of our student populations.
PREPARATION: The NMPED promotes and supports innovative teacher education programs that ensure the diversity of the teaching profession in New Mexico while filling high-need teaching positions in the state in approved teacher preparation programs at New Mexico public post-secondary educational institutions and tribal colleges.
RETENTION: To acknowledge teachers as professionals and provide lifelong professional development and opportunities to grow and learn.
SUSTAINABILITY: To improve long-term sustainability of the teacher workforce, and lead to greater teacher retention and higher job satisfaction.
