Current data (2023-2024) is due, by statute, on August 31, 2024.
In compliance with School Athletics Equity Act (SAEA) (§ 22.31-1 to 22-31-6 NMSA 1978), each public school with athletics for grades 7-12 is required to collect and submit prior year data on team enrollment, coaches, income and expenditures, among other data, to the Public Education Department. The PED prepares and submits a report to the Governor’s office and the New Mexico Legislative Education Study Committee (LESC) identifying those schools that submitted the required data and those schools that did not submit the required data. Please share the information below with the Athletic Directors and other appropriate staff responsible for inputting this annual data requirement.

The Athletic Equity application in SharePoint has been designed to assist public schools in the required data submission elements of the act by streamlining the electronic submission process. If you are an administrator in a public or charter school with 7th -12th grade athletic programs, please ensure that the appropriate staff (e.g., athletic director, head coach, etc.) complete the required elements in the SharePoint application.

To access the data submission site, please go to the link from a web browser. When accessing your school, enter the School Statistic data and save. Continue to enter your data in each module: Coaches Information, Coach to Athlete Ratio, Athletic Expenses, Athletic Income and upload applicable athletic documents.

The SAEA SharePoint application uses STARS login credentials. For new users who do not have STARS credentials, please fill out, or have your STARS coordinator fill out, the form at the link below to provide access to the SAEA application for the new user. link

If a user has STARS login credentials but has forgotten their password. Have the user select the link enter their email address and select “Get My Password,” and the user will receive an email with the password.
If a user has STARS login credentials but does not have access to the SAEA SharePoint application, the user should contact Sharona Secatero at Sharona.Secatero2@ped.nm.gov to get access to the SAEA SharePoint application.

The SAEA assurances required for each district or charter school with athletic programs for grades 7-12 are also available in the SharePoint application for the superintendent or charter leader to sign (typed name).

Please note, if you are public school or charter school with a student population including any combination of grades 7-12 and you do not offer an athletic program at your school, you must notify Sharona Secatero, via e-mail, at Sharona.Secatero2@ped.nm.gov. Failure to notify Ms. Secatero that an athletic program is not offered, and not submitting the required data, will result in a report reflecting non-submission by the given school.

For questions, please contact Sharona Secatero at Sharona.Secatero2@ped.nm.gov.

Non inclusion of data by a middle or high school does not necessarily constitute non-compliance with the School Athletics Equity Act.  PED does not collect information as to whether or not a middle or high school has an athletic program. Additionally, PED does not collect information on specific sports offered at a school. Data on this page only reflects submissions received.
