  • Using Five Classroom Routines in Combination to Support Coherence for Students

Making Sense of SCIENCE Distance Professional Learning Sessions

Calling New Mexico science educators! As part of the Math and Science Bureau’s Science Reentry Support Series, we are partnering with WestEd’s Making Sense of SCIENCE to provide distance professional learning sessions for educators of Pre-K to 12th grade. We are offering three different grade band sessions with four different attendance options. These sessions begin on October 6 and end on October 21, 2020. There are evening and Saturday options. Please join us for these distance learning supports for science by registering below.

PreK3: Place and Heritage-Based Learning 

Making Sense of SCIENCE brings their approach to professional learning to the distance space in this remote learning experience for PreK–3 teachers. The session focuses on using Place-based and Heritage-based learning to engage students and families in distance learning. Register in advance for one of the options below:

Option A —Tuesday, October 6, 3:30–5:30pm

Option B — Saturday, October 10th, 9:30–11:30am

Option C — Saturday, October 17th, 3:00–5:00pm

Option D — Wednesday, October 21, 3:30–5:30pm

Grades 36: Science and Engineering Practices
(includes 6th grade teachers in elementary setting) 

Making Sense of SCIENCE brings their approach to professional learning to the distance space in this remote learning experience for grade 3–6 teachers. The session focuses on using the NM STEM Ready! Science & Engineering Practices to engage students in learning at a distance. Register in advance for one of the options below:

Option A — Wednesday, October 7, 3:30–5:30pm

Option B — Saturday, October 10, 12:30–2:30pm

Option C — Saturday, October 17, 12:30–2:30pm

Option D — Thursday, October 22, 3:30–5:30pm

Grades 612: Science and Engineering Practices
(includes 6th grade teachers in middle school setting)

The session focuses on using the NM STEM Ready! Science & Engineering Practices to engage students in learning at a distance. Register in advance for one of the options below:

Option B — Saturday, October 10, 3:00–4:30pm

Option C — Saturday, October 17, 9:30–11:30am

Option D — Friday, October 23, 3:30–5:00pm
