Licensure Updates

Paper Applications

We have received an influx of paper applications due to past application templates appearing through browser search engines, which we have removed. If you mail an application to our office with a money order, cashier check, or personal check, it will be mailed back to you. You must submit your application using our online licensing system. This has been effective since May 2020.

Owing to the volume of dossiers and OPAL submissions that Region IX received before, during, and following the March 29th deadline, we will extend the resubmission deadline to Friday, May 31, 2024, before/by 11:59 p.m. to give licensees who have failed their strands more time. **Districts/Charters may have deadlines, so please follow up with them. Thank you.

The Professional Development Dossier (PDD) submission period begins July 15, 2023, at 12:01 a.m. and will remain open until 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2024.  The OPAL submission deadline is also 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2024. **Please note that the Dossier will no longer be offered after this deadline, so it’s important to have the initial submission in by the deadline.

Submissions received by October 27, 2023, that successfully pass will receive an effective date of July 1, 2023, on their license(s).

The resubmission window will open at 12:01 a.m. on April 1, 2024, and remain open until 11:59 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2024.

***SUBMISSIONS ONLY MEET THE SUBMISSION WINDOW DEADLINE IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL BY THE ABOVE DATES.*** Waiting until the final deadline is highly discouraged and will result in longer wait times for results.

The licensure extension application will be available in our licensure portal from April 1, 2024, until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024. You must work with your LEA for their support, as this application will require their narrative section to be completed. The fee is non-refundable. Please visit our Licensure Extensions page for more information.

All personnel required to hold NMPED licensure must have an appropriately cleared background submitted with the NMPED ORI # NM920140Z, before entering the virtual and/or in-person classroom. School employment backgrounds may not be submitted in place of the required licensure background. For more information and step-by-step guidance, please visit the Licensure Background Information subpage or follow this link: Licensure Background Information.

Apply, pay, and track your digital application status online in the new licensure portal. Paper applications will be returned to the sender. To obtain a copy of your license, please log in to your portal account to download/save and print.
